Moruti Makuse takes Champ of Champs title in girls’ league

The Emalahleni Local Football Association recently hosted the final showdown of the Girls Schools League.


Moruti Makuse Primary School dominated the Emalahleni Local Football Association Girls Schools League finals with a 5-0 win over Alex Mampana on September 22.

The final showdown, hosted at Witbank High School, brought together zonal winners from different areas to battle for the ultimate title.

KwaGuqa Primary claims Silver Plate on penalties

In the Silver Plate final, Nelson Ngubeni and KwaGuqa Primary played to a 0-0 draw, with KwaGuqa claiming a 2-0 victory on penalties.

KwaGuqa Primary received the Silver Plate champions’ gold medals and a cash prize of R5 000, while runners-up Nelson Ngubeni took home silver medals and R2 000.

Moruti Makuse dominates main final


In the main final for the Girls Schools League Champ of Champs, Moruti Makuse Primary School secured a 5-0 victory against Alex Mampana. As a result, Moruti Makuse was crowned the overall Champ of Champs and walked away with a cash prize of R10 000, while Alex Mampana took home R3 000 as runners-up.

The zonal winners, which included Bonginhlanhla Primary School from Kriel, Sibukosethu from Location, Alex Mampana from Klarinet, KwaGuqa Primary from Ezinambeni, and Hlangu Phala from Phola/Ogies, each received R3 000.


Association praises participating schools


“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the schools that participated in the Girls Schools League,” the association said.



“Every learner, coach and school has played a vital role in building the spirit of girls’ football in our community.”
