Vosman Police Station through its communication officer Captain Klaas Maloka has issued a warning to the public.
This comes after a furniture shop at the KG Mall delivered goods only to find out that a fraud has been committed. A certain ‘customer’ brought the goods at the shop using somebody’s identity document. The shop saleslady confirmed that she was not on duty on May 14 this year and the following day phoned to make sure whether her ‘customer’ had received his goods only to find that his phone was on voice mail. She then phoned one of his relatives. But when they were contacted the phone was on voice mail as well. On further enquiry and going to the address where the goods were delivered it was found that other people were staying in that house.
The customer brought a Sony component system, A Russell Hobbs French door and a Slumberland Enzo Luxury 152 Base Set. The goods were worth R26 600 in total.
When the goods were delivered somebody was waiting outside the house at the gate to receive them and neighbours witnessed all that. The goods were not bought inside the house as expected.
It is suspected the Id used belonged to somebody else but after making an affidavit he is now nowhere to be found. The police are warning to public to be aware of such scams and to immediately report the loss of their identity documents.
Police are investigation a case of fraud and nobody has been arrested.
