Be careful of strangers, especially if they walk up to you when you are alone.
In two reported instances, residents were robbed at knifepoint after being approached by their assailants.
On August 20 a student was on his way to a training college, he parked his white Nissan bakkie and started walking to the college, on the way he was approached by two men. One drew a knife and held him at knifepoint.
The robbers then took his possessions which included his cellular phone, valued at R1 100.
On August 21 a man was robbed of his possessions and groceries that he had just purchased.
The man had just finished his grocery shopping and was walking on his way home when he was approached by two men. One of the suspects held the man at knifepoint while the other searched him for his belongings which included two cellular phones, one valued at R2 000 and the other at R1 200. The two suspects then made off with the man’s groceries in hand.
In both incidents no arrests have been made, however police are investigating the robberies.
“We caution the community not to walk alone in the streets and to be mindful of their surroundings,” said Capt Eddie Hall, police communications.
