Potholes got fixed in Highveld Park with the help of the local Community Policing Forum (CPF).
The contractor rolled through Highveld Park on October 16 with tar and tools in hand. They fixed potholes in Hieda Street and Fry Street in Highveld Park. More potholes are being fixed in the Klipfontein Area in November.
The municipality also provided some good news.
Theo Van Vuuren said,
“There is a programme on pothole and street light repairs in place and it’s also pleasing that in the past week we appointed a service provider to at large scale repair more potholes. However, please note that in many cases we can only concentrate on main routes, while in others, mere repair of potholes will serve no purpose as roads need to be re-built.”

The CPF in Highveld Park raised funds to get their potholes fixed by Home Front.
He adds that although they are repairing potholes their limited funding is currently being focused on more pressing matters.
“Due to the magnitude of the problems and historic state of the infrastructure the availability of funding is not sufficient to address all issues in the short term. For example, as you are aware, there is a mismatch between our expenditure on the Eskom bill and ability to recover costs, implying that a strain on our finances is being experienced. To resolve this some resources have been prioritised to address billing, meter readings and correction of the data base, addressing illegal activities and bringing all into the revenue net,” he explained.
