Four drug related arrests were made recently by Witbank SAPS. Old Coronation the informal settlement near the Klarinet industrial area is notorious for drug related crimes. On November 8 two patrolling officers in the area arrested a suspect for alleged dealing in drugs. The officers followed up on information of a possible suspected drug dealer and at about 20:00 they approached the suspect and searched him. They apparently found R600 worth of dagga in his possession.
This was the most notable incident for the week however three more arrests were made on the same day on November 7. One of the arrests occurred at 12:00 in another informal settlement near Lynnville.
According to police two patrolling officers were making their rounds in the area and came across a house where dagga was allegedly being sold from. The officers knocked on the door and the owner of the small house answered the door. After a brief search the police found several hundred rands worth of dagga.
At about 13:00 at the same informal settlement a man was arrested by another group of patrolling police; he was arrested for being in possession of about R80 worth of drugs. Another drug arrest was made in Old Coronation when an officer arrested a suspect for being in possession of over R1000 of dagga.
The arrest was made near the railway tracks at the entrance of the settlement. Apparently the suspect tried to hide himself from the police after they spotted his suspicious behaviour they approached and made the arrest when they found the illegal substance in his possession.
