The Department of Economic Development and Tourism together with the Mpumalanga Liquor Board invited all licensed liquor traders within Vosman to attend a presentation session.
The gathering was held at Vosman Police Station on March 8 where the provincial liquor trade inspector Mr Daniel Maseko addressed issues such as the application process and information on the new liquor acts.
During the question and answer session business owners were given the opportunity to get clarity on matters they did not fully understand. Maseko made it crystal clear that those who do not display their liquor licenses on their walls will be fined.

Col Daniel Khumalo (Acting Head of Visible Policing) with Mr Daniel Maseko from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Maseko visited Vosman police station on March 8 to alert business owners of the new liquor acts.
“I have had many of these encounters during the festive season where owners were fined R1500. With some businesses it became worse where they did not have licenses so their properties had to be closed from operating. Please get all your papers in order,” said Maseko.
Station commander of Vosman police, Brig Makhosazana Kheswa said people must know that the liquor outlets are being monitored and necessary steps will be taken should they disobey the law.
“We have a duty to protect the community; hence should it be that we find a driver under the influence of alcohol we will have to take away their vehicle. We also have patrons visiting outlets, all this is done to enforce compliance of the new liquor act,” said Brig Kheswa.
The day ended with the issuing of liquor licences to those that had applied.
