Man pointed with a firearm by his colleague

A man was on duty at a scrap yard when his colleague allegedly pointed and fired a shot in his direction.

A man was on duty at a scrap yard when his colleague allegedly pointed and fired a shot in his direction.

The incident happened on Thursday, August 4 when the 30-year-old returned from his last patrol around 02:50.
He left the premises and went to start a fire outside.

“I was feeling cold and I thought the only way to keep myself warm was to start a fire for about five minutes before I go back to work,” said the man.

His colleague who was in the guard room came out and told him to put out the fire and that is when the fight started.

He kicked the fire claiming it was not allowed whether inside or outside the premises and as a result he must put it out.

“I do not understand why he had to come on to me the way he did. I was never aware we were not allowed to start a fire at work. If only he told me this in a decent manner it would have been understandable,” continued the man.

It is alleged that a shot was fired at the man’s direction.

“I am still trying to process what happened; I am still shocked as to why someone I work with would do something of that nature. Maybe if he can apologise I might move on,” said the man.

A charge of pointing of a firearm was opened at Witbank Police Station.
