The rain brings good tithing but bad roads

The potholes in eMalahleni are uncountable and seem to be a problem that will never go away but with the recent heavy rainfall it is not just the number of potholes to worry about as the rain has widened many of the holes in our roads and can become a very real danger when covered by rainfall.
The potholes in Frans Street have always been a problem.
There are several notable roads that have gotten progressively worse since the rainfall namely Lukin Street. The crater has become consistently filled with water even on sunny days it looks like a small dam.
The road is completely impassable. Potholes that have been around for years seem to be growing out of control everyday in roads such as Frans Street and Magretta Street. On Friday, December 9 Theo van Vuuren Facebook page posted a warning about a ditch in Dirkie Uys Street where a car has already been damaged.
The potholes in Magretta Street have become trenches over the years.
The Municipality was contacted to comment about how the rain has affected their road maintenance schedule and if there is a concern from their side about the safety of our roads.
Lebo Mofokeng and Theo Van Vuuren was not able to comment before going to print.
