According to the Hawks, 41-year-old Mozambican, Fransisco Bowoza Fumo was arrested by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) after he tried to sell the explosives to a police officer at the KG Mall in Vosman.

Fumo appeared before the Vosman Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, February 2 following his arrest on Wednesday for attempting to sell the explosives.

According to Lieutenant Dineo Sekgotodi of the Hawks, Fumo only went to take them after he was shown money by the police.

He was found in possession of explosives and detonators estimated at the value of R85 000.00. Investigations to determine the origin of the explosives and a possible link to other crimes in and around the area are underway.

Fumo remained in custody after he was denied bail by Vosman Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. The suspect will appear again at the same court on Monday, February 13 for a formal bail application.
