Feeling unsafe after a woman trespassed for the second time in their yard

She came around the first time and alleged she was dropped off by her friends, the second time around she still used the same excuse.

She came around the first time and alleged she was dropped off by her friends, the second time around she still used the same excuse.

Enough was enough as a woman called different emergency services to help solve the problem.

On Saturday, March 4 at 03:00 a woman trespassed at a yard in Duvha, Extension 15. She says she heard a noise as if something was being used to open the door. She woke up quietly while her husband was sleeping to check.

“I could only see a shadow; I disconnected the alarm first and went to see who it was.”

She switched on all the lights and that is when the woman started knocking on their bedroom window. She pressed the panic button where ADT together with the neighbours came to see if she was fine. She also alerted other neighbours on their Whatsapp group on what had happened.

“We called the police who informed us that there will be no case that will be opened as this person claims she is lost.”

It is not the first time she was in their yard; in November 2016 she trespassed once before. From observation the woman reckons she could be in her early twenties.

When asked how she could have gained entry to they yard she said she jumped through the wall. When they checked their yard the following day they found a pile of stones which they suspect she might have used as stairs in order to gain entry.

The woman alleged that the same time she entered their yard last year it became a coincidence as numerous house robberies were committed in the area.

“The first time she came we only had a wall and no gate and she told us she came in here because her friends dropped her here and she was looking for a man who lives here. It was reasonable because others as well did not have gates so we thought indeed she was lost, we also asked around for the supposed man she claimed to be looking for but he was not found.”

The victim is convinced it is a syndicate that is the cause. She reckons this woman works with other people and they target houses using her as a result they live in fear because of these robberies which police are not doing anything about.

Police spokesperson Capt Eddie Hall referred to this case as a case of trespassing which can be described as when someone enters a yard without the owner’s permission.
What makes matters worse that when she is asked what she wants she cries uncontrollable and says she was dropped off by an Audi.

“I now worry what is going to happen next time if she can even jump over my wall, how do we sleep at night when we are feel scared?”

Capt Hall confirmed police took her in their van and left with her. Commenting on why police refused to open a case Capt Eddie said the police on duty believed what the woman said to them when she claimed she was lost. What the police did was they removed her from the property, gave her a warning and dropped off at her home.

“If something like this happens in your yard you have the right to come to the police station and open a case of trespassing as that is a crime. A person that trespasses must be held responsible.”
