FOVOC gives thanks and discusses the year ahead

Elections of new board members were done and facilitated by Mandla Bongwe, Kenneth Nkosi was elected chairperson, Phuti Nkosi the vice chairperson, Webster Khoza as treasurer, Tsidi Kobyane as secretary, and Claudette Kgarebe as vice secretary.

Foundation for Victims of Crime (FOVOC) held its annual general meeting on the at Paxton Prison Conference room.

The day was filled with excitement when different community members and stakeholders arrived for the meeting on March 2.

The program director was Lucky Bothman who started the program by requesting opening and devotion from Kenneth Carim, who gave a powerful message on ‘Pain is a process to your progress’. This was followed by the introduction and welcoming of guests.

Minutes of the previous annual general meeting where read, corrected and adopted. Reports were given by Phuti Msimango (chairperson), Webster Khoza (treasurer), Samantha Sibanda (office manager) and Willy Maoka (director).

Messages of support came from Mr Nico Fourie on behalf of the The Department of Correctional Services, Mary Mabuza on behalf of Middelburg Victim Support, Siyabonga Shungube from Department of Social Development, and Zodwa Mlangeni, Ward 6 councillor.

The day came to an end when the elections were over and all the stakeholders and community members dispersed. The new committee members and the staff of FOVOC were left to deliberate over policies of the organization which needed to be amended.
