Discharged just in time to spend his birthday at home

He chose not to waste time as he proposed and the love birds will be getting married

Weeks of prayer from all those that did and did not know Hermanus van Staden pulled him through. Not forgetting the doctors and nurses that worked hard to ensure he gets better every day.

He was involved in an accident on Friday, March 3 while driving in Watermeyer Street on his blue Honda CBR Black Bird 1100. He collided with a Value Truck Rental truck.

He lay in hospital for three weeks and three days due to his injuries which were a spleen burst, one and a half litres of blood went to the stomach, liver laceration, eight ribs were broken, his lungs were hurt and his collarbone on the left was injured. In his stay there he had to be operated in order to be himself again. On Monday, March 27 Van Staden got out of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and his fiancée Bianca van der Berg said it was not by their power but it was all God who answered their prayers.

“He can talk, see and feel, that day he was transferred to the general ward of Witbank Provincial Hospital,” said a happy Van der Berg.

She could not wait for him to be discharged and go home the following day. In a voice note sent you can hear Van Staden in the background softly saying “I’m home, chilling here” as Van der Berg provided an update of how he is doing. She went on to give thanks to everyone for always praying and believing in God’s miracles. Van Staden is heard yet again saying “Thanks everyone”.

He was discharged just in time for his birthday that was on Friday, March 31 and he is recovering very well.

He chose not to waste time as he proposed and the love birds will be getting married. He actually proposed in ICU just before getting out. They got officially engaged on Monday, April 3.

The latest on his health is that he is doing well, although he injured the nerves behind his knee and his ribs are still sore the good news is that he is going for his first physiotherapy appointment. He is also eating well, over and above all he is doing good.

The couple is looking forward to a fantastic future ahead of them.

“This is our happily ever after and I am so grateful for the prayers that carried him through. All I can do is to thank God as He is good, I also thank Him for giving me such a strong and good husband-to-be,” concluded Van der Berg with joy.
