Man defrauded of R1 000 warns the public of job scam

He was defrauded of R1 000

A man who was defrauded of R1 000 last year October suspects that the fraudster is now ‘recruiting’ in the Middelburg area.

On October 18, 2016, Mr Aubrey Matjomane was defrauded of R1 000. He saw an advert on Mpumalanga Vacancies of a guy promising jobs in the Arnott area.

“I live in Limpopo, he told me to transfer R1 000 for accommodation and the necessary paperwork for medical fitness,” said Matjomane.

Matjomane’s friend advised him to meet face to face with the man known as Soxokashe.

“He told me he couldn’t meet and that I must first send the money then he would come fetch us,” he said.

Matjomane added that he and his friend travelled to Middelburg to meet with the man but he was nowhere to be found.

“If you look at recruiting websites be careful of this man he will rob you,” said Matjomane as he warned the community not to fall for the scam and promise of jobs.

“We warn the public not to pay any person money for a job, it is corruption and both parties will be arrested for corruption,” said Capt Eddie Hall, Witbank Police communications.
