Two more dogs have been added to the tally of dog poisonings taking place in Blanchville.
On April 6 Ms Helene Dinkelman awoke to the sound of something scratching at her window, burglars had poisoned her neighbour’s dogs and were now attempting to break into her home.
“They first killed the dogs next door, they poisoned them,” said Dinkelman.
The would-be burglars made use of a sharp object in their attempt to bore a hole in the window. Dinkelman was sleeping in her bed next to that very window and awoke, frightened, she screamed for help.
“Rassie ran out next door to help and managed to chase them away,” said Ms Marta Horn, Dinkelman’s neighbour.
It was then that the family living next to Dinkelman, in Ermelo Street, realised that their beloved pets had been poisoned.
The burglars made use of meat laced with Two-Step to poison the dogs which died shortly thereafter.
“Hy le so stil,” said Horn.
The family covered their two dogs in blankets, and locked the remaining dogs inside the house to prevent them from falling sick.
Just two weeks ago the Goosen family’s dogs were poisoned. This took place in Fleur Street roughly two blocks away.
