Louise Clinic opens its doors
Mothers were reminded that the care is important during pregnancy in preparation for their baby’s birth

Community leader Mr Sam Nape stressed the importance of keeping our body healthy during the Louise Clinic open day held recently.
The clinic open day was held on Friday, March 31. Mr Nape urged the people to regularly visit health centres and thanked the health workers for their commitment in caring for their patients.
Sister Khabonina Xaba spoke about antenatal care mothers receive from health care professionals during pregnancy. She reminded the mothers that the care is important during pregnancy in preparation for their baby’s birth.
“Antenatal care is not only about medicine and tests. It includes counselling and providing information and guidelines. It also includes advice on your general health about taking exercise, eating well and stopping smoking. The healthcare team and the supporting staff have experience with HIV positive women. They will provide you with care and explain recent developments in HIV treatment and preventing vertical transmission. Always ask questions if you are not clear on any issue because we need to protect the baby and we need to follow its growth. Stick to your appointment date and complete all the immunisation once the bay is born.”

“People need to eat healthy food, exercise, and avoid salty and fatty food. Drink a lot of water, rest and get enough sleep. Visit health centres regularly to do tests. Avoid sugars, stick to fruit and vegetables and stay free from stress to live longer.” explained Sister Ndlovu.
Sister Annemarie Kruger touched on drug and alcohol abuse.
Sister Germinah Maserumule spoke on TB and HIV and that people are expected to do screening for TB when they visit a health centre.
