Elderly urged to take charge of their lives
"You have showed love, support and care to us. It is now our turn to return that love"

Executive chairperson of Vitrovian Trading Ms Lindiwe Mtsweni said she was pleased by the efforts of Vuka Uzakhe members.
Vuka Uzakhe is an organisation for the elderly based at Phola engaged in different programmes. A hand over ceremony was recently hosted by Vitrovian at the Phola Community Hall.
Ms Mtsweni paid her respects to some of the members some of whom are her former teachers.
She said: “You have showed love, support and care to us. It is now our turn to return that love, support and care to you and treats you like very important people that you are. I would like to thank all the different departments who have supported us to make your dreams to come true. Eskom, department of housing, department of social services, eMalahleni municipality, premier’s office and other department are all involved in building the state of the art old age centre. Some students are still under training at Mehlwane Secondary School and soon they will start with the building of the centre.”
Mtsweni said the centre would be one of the best centres in the country and they did a lot of research to come out with the best. She also thanked the leaders of the organisation for showing good leadership and for their passion.
“My strength lies in you, when my days are dark I know that there are people like you backing me. We will do more for you and we will try and organise exhibitions so that you can sell your products. We will also adopt your project and face challenges together” added Ms Mtsweni.
Members of Vuka Uzakhe were later presented with some electrical appliances and the groceries from Vitrovian Trading. The group rendered a thank you song.
One of the aims of Vitrovian is to empower the local communities by proactively creating platforms for knowledge sharing, Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMME) development, incubation and exposure.
