Toyota Quantum robbed and recovered in Dennilton

Two shots were heard as the vehicle sped away

While a man was asleep with his girlfriend he was disturbed by what sounded like someone kicking the door.

While Mr Likgwathi Komane was still wondering about the noise, his door was kicked open by three unknown men. The three were all armed with R5 rifles and they told Komane not to look at them. This incident took place on Friday, April 7 at about 24:00 at KwaGuqa in Extension 16 in Marikane.

The couple had their hands tied at the back. Komane was questioned about the Toyota Quantum which was parked outside the house. He told them that it was his and was contracted to Kusile Power Station to transport workers. The suspects wanted money and they threatened to rape his girlfriend in front of him because they thought he was lying to them.

The suspects then demanded the vehicle keys and drove off. They had made off with cell phones, a laptop, shoes and an amplifier.

Two shots were heard as the vehicle sped away.

The value of the car is R361 700, no injuries were reported and the vehicle was later recovered at Dennilton with the use of a tracker.

No arrests have yet been made but police continue to investigate.
