Mr Walter Slinger woke up on Wednesday morning only to find his Alsatian lying half-dead in the yard.
On Wednesday, April 12 Slinger awoke, not to the sight of his dog Morpheus wagging his tail, but to a yard which seemed strangely deserted.
“I looked everywhere for him and found him lying in the corner of the yard, hiding away in the bushes, dying,” said Slinger.
Slinger added that that the dog was struggling to breathe. He rushed to the vet to seek aid and returned with hopes of saving his dog which he had owned for four years.
“I was too late, he was bleeding badly from his mouth and rear end, he died,” said Slinger, who lives in Tambourine Street.
Slinger mentioned that his next door neighbour’s sausage dog had also been poisoned.
“A number of houses have been broken into in the area as of late, especially the ones situated along the highway, those close to Klipfontein Dam,” he said.
