While South Africa was on the National Child Protection Week (CPW) which commences annually from May 28 to June 4 to raise awareness for the rights of children a mother was called to rush home.
A mother had to come home from work after she received a call from her neighbor that her daughter has been raped.
The 42 year-old mother reported to the police that she went to work like any other day but later in the afternoon on Sunday, June 4 she received a call from a neighbor to say she must come back urgently because her five year old daughter has been raped.
The daughter then told her mother she has been raped and that the suspect had called her into the house and asked her to undress and then raped her and told her not to tell anyone about the matter. Apparently the suspect is known to the daughter and mother.
While all this happened children are always victims of abuse.
No arrest has been made.
