Duvha Park resident fumes over ongoing sewage spill

Rising temperatures and a suffocating stench leave Duvha Park residents desperate for relief as calls for municipal intervention allegedly go unanswered.

A Duvha Park 1 resident says she is fed up with an ongoing sewage problem in the area, claiming that despite reporting it, no one has acted to address it.

Judith Cornelius contacted Witbank News to raise concerns about sewage allegedly flowing from a property on Geoffrey Jenkins Street.According to her, the problem has persisted for some time and has left nearby residents dealing with an overwhelming stench.

She said she took photographs of the sewage on October 10, and claimed another resident also reported the matter and documented the situation. Despite these reports, she claims that no officials have attended to the problem.

Stench worsens in summer heat

Cornelius said the odour becomes particularly difficult to tolerate during hot weather, making daily life uncomfortable.

“I’m dying from the stench when it gets this hot,” she said. “It’s absolutely unbearable and completely unhygienic.”

She expressed frustration that repeated complaints have not yielded any visible results, adding that she believes the situation is being ignored and residents are left to deal with the consequences while the problem continues.

She further described the sewage spill as unhygienic and said she is concerned that the matter has been allowed to continue for so long without intervention.
