Three suspects robbed a business situated at Masakhane. However their happiness was short lived as one of the three suspects was arrested.

The incident happened on the evening of Saturday, June 10 when Miss Simo Ndwandwe was sleeping alone in the house. The house is divided into two parts, one being the business and the other side is the living area.

Ndwandwe heard noises outside and next thing she heard a window breaking. She woke up and went to the store’s side to check what was going on. The business owner was followed by suspects who were not armed.

As Ndwandwe locked herself on the side of the counter; the suspects demanded money and cigarettes.

“I adhered to the suspects requests and gave them money and boxes of cigarettes,” Ndwandwe relayed the story.

When suspects heard a car outside they ran away. On their way out they got hold of Ndwandwe’s handbag with personal belongings inside. One suspect was outside waiting for the two suspects to come out.

Of the two suspects who were still inside, one exited the shop and the other suspect was unable to escape as Ndwandwe’s husband was already inside the business.

Ndwandwe’s husband managed to catch one suspect. Her husband was hit on the fore head.

“He got hurt as he was trying to block the one suspect from running away but he is doing well,” said Ndwandwe.

Community members were on scene to see if there was anything they could assist with. The one suspect arrested is known to the family.

With one down, there are two more arrests to be made.
