An update on the N4 toll route
In addition to the upgrade of the N4 Toll route, road maintenance is expected to be carried out
Expect traffic delays at peak times:
Late afternoons on weekdays: 15:00 – 20:00
Friday afternoons: 15:00 – 20:00
Sunday afternoons: 14:00 – 17:00
Long weekends
Days preceding public/school holidays
In addition to the upgrade of the N4 Toll route, road maintenance is expected to be carried out at the following sections:
#eMalahleni Gauteng/Mpumalanga border to Highveld Kromdraai interchange east/westbound (N4/3 0.0 to km 13.8)
• Routine maintenance
• Grass cutting: full road reserve cut
• Firebreaks in the road median, every 200m
#Kromdraai/ Highveld Steel interchange to OR Tambo interchange (N4/3 km 13.8 to N4/3 km 30.2
• Pavement rehabilitation- single lane closures will occur as work proceeds
• Bridge expansion project
• Adding additional 3rd lane in the road median
• Grass cutting: full road reserve cut
• Firebreaks in the road median, every 200m
