Walk your dog for Mandela Day

The Witbank SPCA dog walk is around the corner.

The Witbank SPCA Dogwalk-a-Thon is taking place on July 22 from 08:30 to 13:00 at Raku.

What better way to spend the better part of the morning than with your furry friend on a morning stroll.

“As part of our Mandela Day fundraiser for the Witbank SPCA, Struction Contractors pledge a R1 000 donation to the SPCA and we challenge all businesses in Witbank to do the same. It is late but we still have time to put our resources together and make a difference,” said Mr Dale Bannatyne.

In 2016 the community made a spectacular difference to the Witbank SPCA.

“We raised in excess of R20 000 which went directly towards the purchase of food for animals in need. It is all of you who make it possible for the SPCA to do the outstanding work they do. Without the funds and support from you, this would not be possible,” he said.

The SPCA struggles all year to perform the mammoth task of dealing with abused or abandoned animals. So don’t hesitate to contribute at any time of the year, even if it’s just by going down to the shelter and sitting with an animal for a few minutes.

“I have spoken to Sam Curtis at Pet Pool & Hyper and she has again offered to get on board with our annual project. She will have an account for the SPCA at Pet Pool & Hyper where donations can be made which will allow them to purchase fresh food at a reduced price, whenever the need arises. This reduces the risk of the food getting spoiled in storage at the SPCA,” he said.

Another alternative is to deposit directly into SPCA’s account. Please use your name and Mandela Day as a reference and we will make sure your money goes towards animal food.

You are welcome to bring any animal food or blankets you have, to the dog walk and they will make sure that it gets to the SPCA.

“I would like to encourage you all to get on board and fill your heart by helping animals that are unable to help themselves,” ended Dale.
