A single guard stationed at Kelran CC could not help being overpowered in an armed robbery.
The armed robbery took place on June 30 in the dead of night.
“The first two suspects jumped over the wall, armed with firearms they pointed them at the guard and overpowered him,” said Mr Marchelle Fisher, owner of Golden Hands Protection, the security guard’s company.
He added that shortly after, another six suspects jumped the wall.
“Most of them were armed with firearms,” he said.
The robbers then threatened the guard to get the relevant information out of him to gain access to the control room. The guard’s hands were bound and one of the robbers made use of his clock-card to clock him in every hour so as not to raise any alarms.
The suspects proceeded to steal a number of batteries and truck tyres from the vehicles parked throughout the yard and workshop.
“We received a distress signal at around 01:00 and found the guard bound with shoelaces in the machine shop,” said Fisher.
He added that before leaving the suspects bound the guard and began beating him severely.
“You can see on the footage that they kicked the hell out of him,” said Fisher.
“The robbers knew exactly what was going on in the premises judging by their actions and behaviour,” added Fisher.
