The Witbank Society for the Aged held their annual general meeting (AGM) discussing the society’s purpose and what the future holds.
The 37th AGM was held at Oasis Senior Service Centre Hall, Eden Park on Thursday, September 21.
The gathering was attended by residents of Eden Park and Mthimkhulu Housing for the Aged, together with Mr Louis Steyn (Treasurer), Dr Carina Schutte (Director) and Mr Pieter Strydom (Chairperson of the board).
Strydom was in charge of the approval of previous AGM minutes and Chairpersons report sections.
He mentioned that during monthly committees meetings, the reports from the various committees are studied to identify operational, communication, maintenance and staff efficiency problems.
“Input and suggestions are of utmost importance for the successful running and improvement of the society,” emphasised Strydom.
The chairperson mentioned that the achievement of the board committee is for tenants of Eden Park and Mthimkhulu to see the place they reside in as their home.
Dr Schutte gave the Directors report which outlined that Witbank Society for the Aged has 387 units for older persons; 216 are rental units and 145 are life right units.
She mentioned that it was important that people know about the different accommodation.
“After all, our residents are our clients. They must be happy at all times,” said Dr Schutte.
The rest of the programme included a financial report read by Steyn and Strydom closed the gathering with the appointment of auditors and approval of committees and board members for 2017/2018.
