Church leaders invited to eMalahleni over proposed church regulation

The South African Community of Faith-Based Fraternals and Federations invites Mpumalanga pastors to religious freedom meeting in eMalahleni to equip leaders on constitutional rights.

Discussions are taking place across South Africa around the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic (CRL) Rights Commission, the regulation of churches and the future of religious freedom.

Proposed measures have raised concerns regarding potential state regulation over churches and what this could mean for their independence.

The South African Community of Faith-Based Fraternals and Federations invites all pastors and church leaders across Mpumalanga to an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 21.

It takes place at New Life Church in eMalahleni at 10:00.

Session focuses on legal rights

This practical morning session will focus on legal understanding, training and equipping.

Together, participants will explore:
• What the CRL Commission is proposing and why churches are concerned.
• What the Constitution says about religious freedom.
• What is already law and what remains under proposal.
• How pastors and churches can participate in the public participation process.
• How to inform and equip congregations.
• Practical steps churches can take to safeguard religious freedom.

The aim of the session is to ensure the church understands its constitutional rights and maintains a voice in decisions affecting its future.

Attendance is free, but registration is essential. Leaders can register online by clicking here https://nlchurch.co.za/events/freedom-of-religion-church-leaders-meeting/
