With another long weekend passed the end results of drunk drivers were as usual, very high.
On Friday September 22, throughout the weekend Witbank Police again stated that drunk driving will not be tolerated as they held roadblocks along with the Traffic Department.
“All the roads coming into eMalahleni and going out were blocked off for our officials to do their duty,” Sgt David Ratau stated.
In the process, they arrested seven suspects under the influence of alcohol and in one case the driver’s blood results came back with a reading of 0.33; “That is way over the limit,” Ratau stated.
Sgt. Ratau said that prevention is better than cure and that he, as part of law enforcement will keep on doing a good job by removing drunk drivers from the roads.
“If one person under the influence gets a ‘go ahead’ and causes an accident that takes the lives of other innocent people we can not say we are doing our work properly,” he added.
