Vehicle burnt almost beyond recognition

The Nissan NP200 was found on Sunday morning, October 8 and police as well as members of SACCW (South African Community Crime Watch) and AfriForum attended the scene.


The Nissan NP200 that was burnt almost beyond recognition in a fire on the Zaaihoek Road on Sunday, October 8.

The vehicle was parked in the middle of the road, with the handbrake pulled up. What first seemed like a possible murder scene, it was later confirmed by Capt Eddie Hall, media spokesperson of the Witbank Police that no foul play is suspected at this stage.

He said that DNA tests need to be done to determine the identity of the deceased.


Police were busy on scene where a Nissan NP200 was found on the Zaaihoek Road on Sunday, October 8. The vehicle was burnt almost beyond recognition.

“The body could not be identified by family as it is burnt beyond recognition but the vehicle was identified by family and it can at this point not be proven to be the owner,” said Capt Hall.

A case of inquest was opened at the Witbank Police Station.
