On Sunday, November 26 at 03:30 Ms Alrina Kleynhans from Child Welfare received a call from the security company about a break in at the premises.

The suspects gained entry into the Child Welfare premises by jumping over the wall; the stand next to Child Welfare is an empty stand and they pushed away the barbed-wire fence.


The security door lock that was broken so that the suspects could gain entrance into the garage where the Child Welfare cars are kept.

Once they were inside the yard, the suspects bent the burglar-proofing and gained entrance to the blue Toyota Corolla by breaking the left side window.

After that they moved to the garage and broke the security gate and the wooden door.
Inside the garage were three vehicles, the suspects broke all three windows on the left hand side of the cars.
Then they tried to get into the bonnet of the bakkie, causing more damage to the vehicle.

“This is our busy time of year, getting children from all over to various homes for December. Now we can’t transport them with the vehicles looking like this,” said Kleynhans.


The four cars that belong to Child Welfare, all the windows on the left side were smashed and they tried to get into the bonnet of the bakkie.

Between January and February this year the Child Welfare had three burglaries and two attempted burglaries.

“That is when we upgraded our security system and installed burglar bars to the value of R35 000 around the premises and did some other security measures,” continued Kleynhans.
