Person shot, business robbed and vehicle stolen

The first incident took place on Wednesday, January 17 at 16:50. Ms Lucy Tafwirei alleged that she was on duty at the shop when three armed men came in to the shop, by pushing open the roller doors.

As Tafwirei stood at the counter still in shock, the suspects took out a firearm and demanded that she hands over the money.
Shocked at what was happening, Tafwiei stepped away from the till and the suspects took R2 000, a cell phone and 5 litre water bottle. They closed the roller doors behind them and just walked away.

Members from the Local Criminal Record Centre visited the shop and a case of business robbery was opened.
The following day in a separate incident another robbery took place at El Passo Tavern.

On Thursday, January 18 at 23:30 the robbery started when six unknown men arrived at the El Passo Tavern.
The owner of the shop was busy locking up the tavern and he was on his way to his vehicle, a white Seat Ibiza, when he was approached by six unknown men.

The one suspect was armed with a firearm and he demanded that the shop owner climb out of the vehicle and that he must open up the shop again.

When the suspects went inside the shop, they took an undisclosed amount of money.
A person living at the back of the tavern heard the commotion and went to see if he could help.

That is when the suspect shot the person living on the property, then drove away in the owners vehicle.
Langamed received a call at 00:15 for a person that had been shot near El Passo.

When the paramedics arrived on scene they found that a 54 year old had been shot in the chest.

The vehicle has no tracking device. The suspects allegedly fled from El Passo in an unknown direction.
