Shots fired and items stolen at Safari Supermarket Centre

The incident took place on Friday night, January 26 at approximately 20:15.

The owner of Safari Supermarket was shot during an armed robbery.

As same shop owners were busy locking their shops up for the evening and others were assisting their last few customers in the shop,
an unknown amount of suspects entered the shop and held customers at gun point.

The shop owner was shot in the arm and hit on the head, a woman was also assaulted during the robbery.

At the nearby tavern the shop owner was locking up and walked out his shop with a backpack when he was forced into the back of the shop.The armed robbers took his bag.

The suspects fled the scene in bakkie which belonged to a local security company. It is alleged that there was a firearm inside the vehicle that belonged to the security company.

The shop owner and woman were treated on scene and taken to hospital for further treatment.
