Phola Police are conducting investigations after a case docket of concealment of birth was opened.

On Thursday, January 25 at about 10:00 a new born baby was found by a worker at Dark City Sewage in Phola. The worker called the police.

Cst Busi Ndala and Mr Brilliant Malope (patroller at Phola SAPS) attended the scene. On arrival, they found the burned body of a new born baby, with an umbilical cord, on top of a sewage drain.

Police are pleading with anyone from the community with information that can assist in bringing the perpetrator(s) to justice to contact Phola SAPS: 013 643 8601 or Phola SAPS Detectives Branch Commander Capt Christina Xaba: 013 643 8416.

The mother of the baby is unknown.
