Two police lives lost after shooting

A police officer from Ga-Nala was found behind a locked door lying in a pool of his own blood in the early hours of Monday, February 12. In another corner of the yard, lay another police officer, deceased, with one gunshot wound.

It is still unclear what led to this horrific incident and a colleague of the two deceased officers could not anticipate what he would find when he received a call to the scene.

The officer on duty received a complaint of a shooting in Sonneblom Street in Ga-Nala. Upon arrival he found Searg Ivy Precious Mathibela (42) lying next to her private vehicle with a single gun shot wound behind her right ear. Next to her was her service pistol.

It is reported that there were 11 live rounds in the magazine of the pistol with two projectiles and four cartridge cases retrieved from the scene. The constable attending the scene asked the landlord for the whereabouts of Capt Manelisi Samuel Nkosi (48) who resides at the scene of the crime. In a locked room, lay Capt Nkosi reportedly in a pool of blood on the floor with three gunshot wounds to his right shoulder and chest.
