A Nissan Champ bakkie was successfully recovered by members from the SACCW.

On Monday, August 6 at about 08:00 an inbox message was sent to Maureen Scheepers, SACCW Operations Coordinator saying that a bakkie had been stolen in Klarinet ext 3.

“I informed Maureen on the SACCW Facebook group about my brother’s vehicle that had been stolen,” explained Kate Kutumela, the owner the vehicles sister.

Scheepers posted it on their Facebook page and other SACCW responders attended to the emergency.

“The owner of the vehicle decided to drive through an informal settlement and to his amazement he saw his vehicle standing next to a shack,” explained Scheepers.


The Nissan Champ that was successfully recovered by members from the SACCW.

“My brother noticed his car but he wasn’t sure how to handle the situation so we asked the SACCW and the police to assist,” Kutumela further explained.

SACCW responder, Frik Van Dyk assisted and went out to the scene.

It was indeed the bakkie that had been stolen and it was successfully recovered within two hours after it was posted as missing on the SACCW Facebook page.

The vehicle was discovered in Old Coronation.
