Two young men from Ga-Nala kept a fire from destroying a housing complex and saved the day.

On Saturday, September 22 just after dusk, Mr Vincent Becker saw smoke and instinct told him that something bad was about to happen.

“A container at the back of a complex in Kingfisher Street was ablaze. The flames were higher than the houses. I ran into the complex and grabbed a hosepipe, but it could not reach the burning container,” Becker said.

There was also not enough water pressure.

Messrs Rostella Malinga and Vincent Becker extinguished a fire that was about to engulf a housing complex on Saturday, September 22.

The two exhausted heroes ran up and down, buckets in their hands while occupants of the complex went about their daily routine, not giving much thought of the danger they were in.

The fire department pitched up a little later and did what was necessary to keep the fire from starting again.

These two heroes each deserve a medal for their bravery.
