On September 27, Mr Solomon Mhlanga (43-year-old) was driving his manager from eMalahleni to Gauteng.

At about 18:45 along Watermeyer Street, he was turning onto the N12 highway when the truck was hijacked by two unknown men.

He saw unknown men standing alongside the road. Solomon said that one man was flicking a torch at the truck and he stopped the truck because he thought it was a traffic officer.

Before the truck came to a standstill the men opened the passenger door and pointed a firearm at him.
