
It seems like Toyota Quantums are targets for car hijackers. Over the past, they have been targeted and in the past weeks they are on the list of cars being hijacked.
The police in Vosman reported that they are investigating cases of car hijackings.
The first car was hijacked at Koali Street in Vosman on Friday, September 28 at about 21:30.
The white Toyota Quantum with registration number JMC 167 MP and worth R150 000 was taken. The owner reported that he was with his friends sitting inside the vehicle and the ignition was off but the key not removed. While sitting they saw three suspects standing next to the vehicle and they had firearms with them. One of the suspects who was next to the driver’s door, cocked the firearm and pointed at the driver.
He ordered him to move into the back seat and ordered all of them to lay down between the seats and they were told that nothing will happen if they co-operate. They asked whether the vehicle was fitted with a tracker and they drove with them. They continued driving with them for about six hours and were dropped off next to water reservoir Perside Springs. They ran into the security guards where they asked for help and police were called for them.

Truck driver gets hijacked by ‘police’
Another Toyota Quantum was hijacked at KwaGuqa in Extension 10 on Wednesday, October 10 at about 19:45.
The registration number of the car is JLN 345 MP. It was taken while the car was delivering passengers in the area. The passengers were from the city of KwaGuqa Extensions. The 25-year-old driver reported that one of the suspects requested to get dropped off and he stopped the vehicle.
The suspect was wearing a comouflage uniform and took out a firearm and pointed at him. He instructed him to look down and move to the back seat and the other two suspects ordered his two friends to lie down as well. They drove with them and took another vehicle and drove with them, they were searched and they took R5 000 in cash. The value of all items taken is R65 000. The victims were dropped off at Holfontein Farm.
A third Toyota Quantum was hijacked Wednesday, October 10 at 23:45 at Extension 12 in Empumelelweni.
The 34 year-old victim reported that his vehicle was taken while he was delivering work staff when he noticed that inside another vehicle there were three suspects. One of the suspects pointed him with a firearm and they instructed him to lay down. They drove with him and he heard another vehicle coming from the front and it then stopped.
The suspect covered his face with his t-shirt and ordered him to get into the other vehicle. They drove to an unknown direction where they stopped in the bushes, searched and took his cellphone and his drivers licence and left him stranded in the bushes.
The car registration is JMM 686 MP. The calue of all the items taken including the vehicle is R300 000.
No one has been arrested in all the cases and police are investigating.
