On October 10, at approximately 04:00 a woman in Die Heuwel woke up to go to the bathroom. On her way out of her bedroom, she noticed that a stranger had gained access to her house.

She screamed, alerting her husband. The stranger rushed over to her and told her to keep quiet and to give him her cellphone. The woman complied.

At this point, her husband came rushing out of their bedroom. Upon seeing her husband, the stranger fired off a shot in his direction with the revolver which he was carrying. The stranger got away with two cellphones to the value of R12 000.

Earlier that evening in Model Park, a woman awoke a short while before 04:00 when she heard someone opening her bedroom door. The man standing in the doorway told her to keep quiet and demanded that she give her cellphone to him.

There was also R500 in cash lying on a table in her bedroom which the thief also pocketed. The woman’s mother woke up and came over to her room to see what the commotion was.

The robber pointed his revolver at the woman’s mother, at which point the woman screamed. A second man then entered the bedroom and demanded that the woman’s mother give him her cellphone.

A third armed man also entered the room before all three fled. The woman suffered a loss of approximately R7 000 because of this robbery.
