Wards 19 and 21 in Tasbet came together to prayer against crime, drug abuse, for fewer accidents on the roads towards December holidays, housing allocation problems at Uthingo, praying for the local municipality, praying for councillors, praying for children writing their examinations, praying for peace and praying for successful elections to take place next year.

Community members, churches, pastors, Cllr Beauty Shabangu, ward committee members, wards secretary Ms Mabu Tlaka, taxi drivers and owners, Sanca, SAPS, South African Communist Party (SACP), business people, Community Development Workers (CDW) and other stakeholders were all represented during the prayer session.


Some of the people who attended the prayer session held at different places in ward 21 on November 15.

Colonel Amos Mtsweni and Sergeant David Ratau represented SAPS, Sanca was represented by Kefiwang Mnisi, Ms Lerato Moyo represented the business sector while Ms Merciful Nchupetsang was the ANC representative.

Cllr Shabangu said they want to bring peace in the wards and the different parts of the city while at the same time praying to stop the abuse of drugs and alcohol.

Children who were involved in drugs were prayed for and most of them were willing to get out and be rehabilitated.

“We are planning to hold prayer sessions every month until we get answers from the Lord. We can see that the children need help and as parents we will do whatever it takes to help them,” explained Cllr Shabangu.
