
The news of the five-month-old baby boy that was thrown from a car sent shock waves through eMalahleni.
The initial report that came through on scene was that the baby was two months old, later when the baby’s father arrived at the hospital, it was confirmed that the baby was in fact five months old.
The parents of the five-month-old baby live in Tasbet Park. Between 07:00 and 08:00 the mother of the baby noticed that another person living on the same property was taking out the trash. At this stage the husband was already at work. She asked the man if she could get a ride with him to town.

She walked out of the house with a suitcase, a pram, baby bag and her five-month-old son.
He then drove down Jellicoe Street and at this stage the mother had fallen asleep in the car, he was not comfortable with the way she was sleeping.
He tried to wake her up, but he could not get her awake, he then drove to eMalahleni Private Hospital to see if he could get help but he was not sure if she had medical aid.
So that is when he decided to drive to Witbank Provincial Hospital instead, when he stopped at the boom gate she woke up and asked why he was there.

He then told her that she was fast asleep and that he could not wake her up, she just told him that she is very tired.
Allegedly she actually wanted to be dropped off at the long distance taxi rank.
He then proceeded along Mandela Drive towards the mall when he allegedly heard her say the baby’s name and then, “you are going now.”
At this stage he was not sure what was happening and before he knew what had happened, she threw the baby out the window.
He stopped the vehicle and picked the baby up; allegedly she then started attacking him as she wanted to get the baby out of his hands.

A bystander stopped on the side of the road when she noticed the commotion and she started praying for the mother.
The baby was given to a bystander who rushed the baby to Dr Desire Booysen’s consulting rooms where he was stabilized.
Paramedics from Legacy Emergency Specialists fetched the little boy from her consulting rooms where he was taken to Life Cosmos Hospital.
At the scene of the incident angry members from the community tied the women’s hands up.
Dr Wayne Banks who works in the casualty unit took the baby under his wing and sent the baby for a CT scan to determine the extent of his injuries.

While the baby was been treated, his mother was taken to Witbank Police Station for questioning.
The mother is charged for attempted murder and she appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, December 12.
The baby miraculously sustained absolutely no injuries but is kept in hospital for observation.
