She said it was encouraging to note that Anglo Coal was taking care of the wellness of its employers and their spouses. She indicated that such programmes must be well supported so that even children learn a lot from them.

“We need to start educate our children so that they can understand from their early lives to learn about their wellness,” said the mayor.

Anglo Coal CEO Mr July Ndlovu said even though they have lost two employees they were trying very hard to take care of them.

He added to say that they were very concerned about their wellness and that of their spouses. A moment of silence was observed in the memory of the two.

“Are we doing enough about their safety? Yes, because we think that it is important that they are always safe. Wellness is always on our mind, we are always prepared to help. 90% of our workers are tested but we are worried about the ten per cent, we pioneer a free and available programme for them. We want to create an Aids free generation,” said Mr Ndlovu.

Mr Ndlovu highlighted that the abuse of women and children must stop and urged people not to look the other way when they see abuses.

He said the children are our future and we need to love, support and care for them. He encouraged the people to make the right choices to live a healthy and a productive life.
