
Most little girls want a pony for Christmas; most little boys want a truck – but what do robbers want Santa to bring them this year?
Apparently, they’d like cash and cigarettes.
On December 17 at approximately 17:30, Caltex filling station in Beatty Street in the CBD fell victim to these bandits, who surely saw this awful crime as a way to fill up their own Christmas stockings.
One of the filling station’s cashiers was on duty on this dreary, rainy day. It didn’t seem like an abnormal day.

Nothing out of the ordinary, at all. That is, until he was approached by two men. One of the men immediately drew a pistol from his pants and pointed it at the cashier.
The cashier, having little choice over the matter, handed the two men the R800 which was in his till.
The two men took the R800, as well as 20 boxes of Dunhill cigarettes, before they hit the road; leaving the cashier shaken by their swift en efficient approach to robbery.
Business owners are urged to take extra precautions during the holiday season, when business robberies are known to greatly increase in prevalence.
