On this evening many dogs went missing and some even got seriously injured, another sadly passed away.

This New Years Eve was no different to previous ones, once again fireworks were fired and pets throughout eMalahleni were filled with fear.

Pet owners are greatly against the culture of fireworks near towns and houses.

Some pet owners even feel that fireworks should be banned completely.

In December 2017 fireworks were banned throughout eMalahleni, although some residents still fire them illegally.

“Fireworks have officially been banned in Emalahleni and anyone found discharging them will be guilty of an offence and prosecuted,” was stated by the local municipality back in 2017.

Now the question remains, what happens to those not abiding by the laws?
