The shock of the Klarinet-murder is still a hot topic of many a conversation.

Ms Zinhle Maditla, (24) who accused of murdering her four children made a brief appearance in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 7.

While everyone is mourning the deaths of Minenhle (8), Blessing (6), Shanique (4) and Ettiene (11 months) another family is struggling to come to terms with the same situation.

A fifth child died in eMalahleni because his mother also allegedly poisoned him.

His mother, who still has to appear in court, was arrested and taken to Vosman Police Station on December 31 on a charge of attempted murder and two counts of murder.

The mother’s sister, Ms Lizel Sibanyoni told WITBANK NEWS that the family is heartbroken.

“My sister and her three children, Lebogang, Njabulo and Lesedi stayed in Soweto. She brought the poison while they were still in Soweto and fed it to the children,” Sibanyoni said.

Njabulo (13) and Lesedi (8) were rushed to Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg on December 5.

Njabulo later died in hospital and Lesedi was discharged.

Soon afterwards the mother and her two remaining children, Lesedi and Lebogang (16) came to visit her parent’s in Hlanikahle Ext 4.

It was not long before Lebogang started coughing violently.

He was admitted to Witbank Hospital on January 2 and he died the following day.

This docket was transferred to Moroka Police Station in Soweto as that is where the woman allegedly poisoned her children.

The police must still determine if the children were indeed poisoned.
