Reported rape cases over festive season

The second rape incident occurred on Wednesday, December 26 just after Christmas Day.

Two cases of rape were reported at Witbank Police Station over the festive season.

The first rape incident occurred on Sunday, January 6 at approximately 08:00 in Mashakane Village in Duvha Park.

A woman told her sister and brother that she was going to church to clean the church up.

When the woman arrived at the church she was alone and waited for other people to arrive.

She waited for a while and nobody else joined her to clean, so that is when she decided to leave and go visit a friend.

On her way to the friend’s place, she noticed a cell phone in the street.

She took the phone and walked to the place where she wanted to visit.

Then she was approached by a person who said the phone belonged to him, when she went to fetch the phone to give it to him, he raped her in the bedroom and left.

The second rape incident occurred on Wednesday, December 26 just after Christmas Day.

The woman alleged that she was walking home from an event in Spring Valley on her way home at approximately 03:30.

Not far from where she rented her place, she asked a friend to accompany her to her room.

While they were walking, they noticed that someone was following them.

A fight broke out between the two men and she ran away to her house.

When she got to her home, she quickly unlocked the padlock and wanted to go in.

While trying to get into the house, an unknown person strangled her and pushed her onto her bed.

She started screaming and he beat her until she was bleeding from her nose and then he undressed her.

He pushed her back onto the bed and raped her; once he was done, he left the house.
