Mr Thokozani Mokoena of Nyerere Street in Vosman recently reported about a sewerage problem in the area.
According to Mokoena it started early last year and it has been reported several times at the municipality and to the ward councillor Vusi Nhlapho who is aware of the problem as well.
Mokoena said the problem is now affecting two houses as sewerage water comes out of their drains filling their yards with the filthy water.
“Several times we have reported the matter; they come and go saying they need a special truck to unblock the drains. They come and after a few days or sometimes a few weeks it is back to square one. The problem is affecting us as we have children who sometimes do not understand the dangers of the water. We have no one to turn to solve us the problem,” said Mr Mokoena.
Cllr Nhlapho said he is aware of the problem at the areas and every time it is reported it is attended to.
He also added to say they have a sewer system problem in the whole of Vosman since the system was build for one section but with the added houses in the area the sewer sometimes became overloaded.
He said a project to extend the pump station will start at the end of the month.
Cllr Nhlapho also appeals to community members to take responsibilities because they sometimes drain out even unwanted materials and even foetus has been drained from the sewerage in the past.
