Small wound left to heal
But unfortunately when the bandages were removed, there was still a small wound that needs to heal
Many people were hoping that when the leopard’s wounds were checked that it would be for the last time, but unfortunately it was not.
On Friday, February 1 Dr Nolan Landman and his team from Witbank Veterinary Hospital were hoping that when they removed the bandages from the leopard, it would be the last time and he could be moved to a rehabilitation centre.
But unfortunately when the bandages were removed, there was still a small wound that needs to heal before the leopard could be released.
So the leopard’s wound was cleaned, more ointment was placed inside the wound and then bandaged up.
In a few days’ time the leopard will be sedated once again and hopefully can then be relocated to a rehab centre.
“So far all the treatment and food has cost approximately R100 000,” said Landman.
The leopard was caught up in a snare in December 2018.
