Unions stop rescue operation until employees are paid

Their bodies still have not been retrieved as the unions want the employees to be paid first

Last week many people lost their lives in an explosion at Koornfontein Mine (Gloria section).

Their bodies still have not been retrieved as the unions want the employees to be paid first before the rescue operation continues.

On Wednesday, February 6 the first four bodies were retrieved from the mine, the other two managed to get out of the mine, unfortunately one died later while the other is still alive and will be appearing in the Blinkpan Periodical Court on charges of trespassing.

The employees feel that if the mine can spend so much money to get the mine up and running again to rescue the illegal miners, then they should be able to pay the employee’s salaries.

It’s still unclear when the rescue will take place.
