Leopard finally moved to rehab centre

Deon Cornelius from Ubhetyan-O-Africa who rescued the leopard from the snare was at Witbank Veterinary Hospital

It’s been an extremely long road to recovery for the leopard that was caught up in a snare, but he is finally at a rehab centre where he can gain his strength before being released back into the wild.

On Wednesday, February 13 the leopard was darted for the last time, so that his wound could be checked.

The wound had healed; Dr Nolan Landman and his team were impressed with how well the wound had healed that they gave the go ahead so that the leopard could go to a rehab centre.

Deon Cornelius from Ubhetyan-O-Africa who rescued the leopard from the snare was at Witbank Veterinary Hospital to take the leopard back to Ubhetyan-O-Africa where it will be kept in a rehab centre for a while.

The leopard was found on December 23 in a snare between Middelburg and Loskop Dam.

Cornelius sedated the leopard and took it to Landman for treatment and since then he has been at the hospital receiving treatment.
