The Emalahleni Women Against Substance Abuse marched to hand over a memorandum to the office of the executive mayor and to raise their concern about drug abuse.
The march was led by the group chairperson Ms Kate Msibi and it was held on Tuesday, March 5.
The group said they were concerned about the growing scourge and untold suffering caused by drugs on individuals, families, schools, churches and within the large communities.

They added to say that they want children to be raised in a safer environment and want to join forces with other stakeholders in their fight.
The groups raised six demands in the memorandum.
One of their demands was that there is a need for a rehab centre in eMalahleni as the city has a high rate of drug abuse.
That the local government provide with information on budget allocation and that it takes firm action against corrupt councillors.
That the local government provide information about progress on issuing of licences to foreigner shop owners.
That government departments assist in temporarily accommodation for drug users until a local rehab centre is built.

The women said their next step was to go to the Union Buildings to raise their concern on drug abuse in the city.
They demanded that the executive mayor assist to plan for the march to Union Buildings.
The memorandum was received on behalf of the executive mayor by Cllr Hessie Maseko together with Cllr Jerry Djiane.
